Mothers' Day Barbecue and Dance
The annual commemoration at the Massachusetts State House in the House of Representatives Chamber started by former Speaker of the House George Keverian many years ago. This year's keynote speaker was Dr. Noubar Afeyan and the musical interlude by Narek Arutyunian, clarinet. The George Keverian Scholarship awarded to two recipients. Belmont was very well represented by Rev. Fr. Mikael Bassale, Badveli Avedis Boynerian, legislators - Sen. William Brownsberger and Rep. Dave Rogers, local government officials - Selectmen Adam Dash, Roy Epstein, former Selectman Mark Paolillo, and Town Meeting Members Judith Ananian Sarno Pct. 3, and Jirair Hovsepian Pct. 4. I believe Police Chief Richard McLaughlin was also there.

Thanks to Hayr Mikael, Rev. Boynerian of the Armenian Memorial Church, all Holy Cross Armenians and other Armenians and friends who attended the Armenian Genocide Proclamation by the Belmont Board of Selectmen on April 1, 2019. Hayr Mikael said a very solemn prayer ending this special event.
This year the 104th Armenian Genocide Commemoration at the Massachusetts State House in the House of Representatives Chamber will take place on Friday, April 12, 2019 at 10am to 12:30pm. Reception to follow. Bring your family and friends to commemorate and honor our Sainted Martyrs. There will be FREE bus transportation leaving from St. James and St. Stephen's Armenian Churches in Watertown at 9:00am and returning from the State House at 1:00pm. Deadline to register for buses is April 8 at [email protected].
On Monday, April 1, 7pm, the Belmont Board of Selectmen will be making a Proclamation remembering the Sainted Martyrs of the Armenian Genocide. It will be the 1st item on their business agenda. The location will be the Homer Building, Art Gallery, 3rd floor, at 33 Moore St., Belmont, next to Town Hall. Please come and bring family and friends. It should take about 15-20 minutes.
